About Me

I’ve loved drawing for as long as I can remember. When I was a child my grandmother kept lots of typewriter paper around, and she’d give me as much as I wanted to draw on. I used pencils, pens, crayons and anything else I could find. As I got older, I kept drawing, but also began to paint in oils and watercolor.

Years later, in the early 90’s, a friend introduced me to his new computer…a Macintosh, with some programs on it i’d never seen before: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Fractal Design Painter. Although I had used computers before, that was the first time I realized computers could be used to do more than spreadsheets, word processing or games. They could be used to enhance and create art.

That was well over 20 years ago. Today my passion for art is as strong as ever. The computer has become one of my primary tools for enhancing and creating art. It has allowed me to continue growing as an artist in several areas: painting, illustration, and graphic design. It has also opened up new areas of interest I would have never pursued traditionally, like: motion graphics, 3D animation and video editing.

I still love traditional drawing with pencil and paper the most. For me, it is still the best way to start out. All of my illustrations or portraits begin as a pencil sketch or drawing. I try to combine my traditional art skills with my digital art skills to create something special and unique. I consider my art to be “Tradigital”, a combination of traditional and digital. My motto is to never stop learning, to constantly keep improving, growing and developing new skills...not just in art, but in everything I do.

When I’m not drawing or on the computer you’ll find me with my family, my wonderful wife, our four beautiful daughters and three special grandchildren. I love spending time with all my family and friends. I also enjoy reading, watching movies (with popcorn;-), listening to music, and traveling.
